“I’d rather be on a farm than anywhere else,” says John Rooks of Windmill Farm. He grew up on the farm of his father who grew up on the farm of his father and so on. John’s father always raised produce and later bought a hatchery. In 2017 John raises 1500 chickens, hatches chicks, sells eggs, and grows the occasional cucumber on 60 acres in Rocky Point, NC. He distributes his goods at Tidal Creek and directly to customers on the farm. He also owns the Rocky Point General Store.
